Anti-Gravity Cake.
My husband complains that he is getting old and gravity is starting to work against him. So for his birthday I made an anti-gravity cake.
I started with chocolate cake using two 8 inch baking pans.
Frosting in between.
And to make the floating illusion, I used a chopstick (most people use straws).
I lightly frosted the top of the cake, then placed the chopsticks where the cascade of candy will fall.
After that, the job is to use a small amount of frosting, to use to stick the candy to the chopstick. Starting from the bottom of the chopstick and covering just halfway.
Then working on the other stick the same way, from the bottom and going up half of the stick. And spread the leftovers to cover the cake.
I used pirouline wafers
to place around the cake. But before that my mother-in-law helped me cut them to the correct height.
The wafers were "glued" to the sides of the cake with frosting.
And last I just placed the empty bags on top of the chopsticks.
It is a fun cake to make.
And the kids loved it.
So let's just see if birthday boy approves the message.
