I decided to share the way my husband color eggs with my kids, certainly less messy and much faster. He uses a drill, a piece of mounting tape, a part of a Lego wheel, hard boiled eggs and different color Sharpies. A square of mounting tape sticks to the top of the drill, the other end sticks to the egg. The round Lego piece maintains the egg stable. Then just turn the drill at a not so fast speed (and be careful because it is still a power tool). The kids love the idea, and from 10 eggs I cooked, just one of them didn't fit in the apparatus he made. And they dry pretty fast, too. It was the fastest egg coloring day we had.
